What to Wear for a Maternity Session

"But Jamie, what am I supposed to wear? My body is changing so fast - what can I possibly find before the shoot?"

I get it. When it comes to planning for a photo session, it might not always be the easiest to plan looks for your family, or even for yourself. Don't worry. I've got you covered!

Firstly - location is a factor. If your shoot is outdoors/on location, we will think ahead and plan for the weather. Being based out of Toronto, I encourage clients to take advantage of the outdoors from late spring to early fall. I love parks and trails but ADORE our city too. The bright lights and vibe of city life are things I've learned to appreciate over the years.

With studio sessions, there's a bit more time for wardrobe changes. I usually suggest 1 outfit change when outdoors, and at least 2 for studio sessions. When I hold my comprehensive pre-shoot consultations - I always ask my clients what look and overall vibe they are after.

For mamas, looks can range from nude-implied, casual, dressy, to absolutely fancy! If you're able to come to the studio for a dress fitting, it gives you a chance to see the options in person, and I can help style the rest of your family too.

It's no secret that my studio wardrobe is massive. My couture mama gowns are out of this world gorgeous, but I also offer options with less volume and I am absolutely in love with fabric draping. This allows me to make a custom piece that fits the body perfectly!
